Salpingectomy

This is the treatment of choice if the other tube appears normal because of the risk of a recurrent ectopic.

Indications:

  • Tubual rupture
  • Very large ectopic
  • Previous sterilisation

Salpingostomy

Risk of recurrent ectopic pregnancy is high and the patient will require serial hCG monitoring following the procedure because of the risk of residual trophoblast.

Indications:

  • Previous salpingectomy
  • Other tube abnormal
  • Pt choice for tubal conservation
